When we were little, we wanted out parents to buy us, like, the most expensive Tamagochi toy, a Nokia 3310 or more Pokemon cards. Saffron Drewitt-Barlow is living the dream harder than you imagined. Her two millionaire dads buy her everything she wants. Barrie and Tony Drewitt-Barlow were the first gay man to father a child in UK via surrogacy, so Saffron (and her twin brother Aspen) is the first child in the country to be registered with two dads and no mom. She's also close to being the most spoiled child in the kingdom, too.
Saffron's monthly allowance is £5000 (around $6800), she received a white Range Rover for her 18th birthday (Aspen got a black one) and her dads invested £1 million in her first business – Barking Mad Cosmetics.
“I know I am incredibly lucky. Dad and Daddy love the finer things in life, and that's something they have passed on to me," she told the press. “They have always been incredibly generous and love spoiling my brothers and me. They aren't afraid to let people see how we live. They're self-made, and they tell us that if you make your own money then you can choose to spend it how you like.”
Saffron calls Barrie Daddy and Tony Dad and that they expect her to pay back the investment as well as support herself now that she's an adult. “Daddy (Barrie) sat me down and said that while they love spoiling me, I'm growing up and it's time for me to get a job," she said.
“He said he and Dad are self-made millionaires, who grew up on a Manchester council estate, and they want me to make my own way in life and be as successful as them.” The combined wealth of the two dads – including a global medical research company - reaches £40 million (about $54 million).
“We are incredibly proud of all our children, but we've told them we intend to leave a lot of our millions to charity as we want our children to get jobs and make their own way in life, just as we did," says Barry.
“While we make no apologies for spoiling them, we have also taught them the value of money and we never let them forget where we came from. I don't want any of my kids to have to work at McDonald's or mop floors to make ends meet, so I won't apologise for giving Saffron her first step on the ladder.”
Saffron spends thousands of dollars on designer brands like Tom Ford and Chanel every year and has enjoyed cosmetics since she was little. Her own range now includes a £30 moisturizer and a £25 night cream. Saffron has already negotiated a deal with Ideal world, a TV shopping channel.
